Adventure that is fun for the entire family!
We had a fabulous morning trekking with llamas, alpacas and their tiny puppy Lola who could keep up with the pack. The baby llamas were so cute! The scenery was fantastic and our tour guide, Reynaldo and Margo (I apologize if I am spelling the names incorrectly) were very attentive and took amazing pictures of our family and prepared us a fabulous lunch overlooking the Andes and Chinchero. Amazing Experience – Kind People & Happy Animals
My son and I had a wonderful time hiking with llamas and alpacas in Chinchero. Everything was perfectly organized and on time. Reynaldo was friendly and communicative before, during, and even after the tour, which made us feel very welcome and cared for. Both Reynaldo and the kind woman who walked with us were amazing—so friendly and patient, even taking tons of pictures of my son and me without hesitation. It was a huge plus that Reynaldo is from Chinchero; I love supporting small local communities. As an animal lover and advocate, I was especially happy to see how well the llamas, alpacas, and even the sweet little dogs were treated. The animals are clearly loved and respected, and that made the experience even more meaningful for us. The food was incredible—fresh, organic, and full of variety. My son is a picky eater, but he ate more than usual, which says a lot! Thank you for your care, attention to detail, and all the knowledge you shared with us. Alpaca picnic with a view
Renaldo & Margot were lovely hosts They answered all my questions about the animals, the land & their customs. Margot is an incredibly talented artist and she showed me around her studio where she makes beautiful alpaca products. She explained how she takes the raw wool & turns it into yarn and how she dyes the wool using traditional methods. Vale o perrengue! As Montanhas são lindas!
As montanhas coloridas são lindas!! E é possível pagar a parte para visitar o “Valle rojo” que também é bem bonito! A trilha até que é tranquila, cerca de 3km de caminhada até a montanha. Amazing Experience!
The alpaca trek was my favorite part of my trip to Peru. It honestly felt magical. Reynaldo was so helpful and informative and willing to give us advice for other parts of our trip. Wow! I chose the llama and alpaca walk for my family and it was my favorite part of my trip to Peru! The views, food, and conversation with Reynaldo was truly a wonderful cultural experience. Amazing alpaca day
This was an amazing adventure and I was so happy we chose it. A super nice driver picked us up from Cusco and brought us to mountain site. The owner and staff tried to accommodate your every need before you could ask. They took pictures with our phones that looked professionally done. The hike was very nice with incredible views and the alpacas were a lot of fun. Hike may be hard if you are from sea level, but they seem to go at whatever pace you like. I would highly recommend !! Great way to spend time with llamas and alpacas!
This is a great experience if you want to spend more time with alpacas and llamas! This alpaca trek is a lot of fun! This is my second time doing this experience, the first time with my partner and this time around with my parents. The trek is not very steep and you hike at a leisurely pace. Reynaldo and Margot are wonderful hosts and kept us company with the alpacas and llamas the whole way. We each got our own llama or alpaca to walk, including some baby alpacas! We got to feed the baby alpacas and got some cute photos too. The animals are friendly, some of them a little more energetic than others. The views are beautiful, seeing the lake, mountains, and potato crops! The lunch at the end of our hike was amazing! When my son told me one thing he absolutely wanted to do while we were in Cusco was spend time with alpacas, I started searching for an authentic experience away from the crowds.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family.

We wandered through beautiful eucalyptus forests before reaching wide open mountain landscapes that honestly looked like something out of a dream.

And every few minutes we'd stop simply to admire the scenery... or cuddle another fluffy alpaca.
As a photographer, I was completely obsessed.
Everywhere I looked was another perfect frame.
A Traditional Andean Lunch Made With Love
Just when I thought the experience couldn't get any better...
We arrived at the family's mountain lodge for lunch.
And wow.
This wasn't just a meal.
It was hospitality at its finest.
Before lunch, we were treated to freshly baked artisan bread served with homemade Andean cheeses and flavorful local sauces that I still think about.
Simple ingredients.
Extraordinary flavor.
The kind of food that reminds you that love really is the best ingredient.
Lunch itself featured fresh local ingredients prepared with so much care, all enjoyed while overlooking one of the most spectacular mountain views imaginable.
It felt peaceful.
Authentic.
Unforgettable.

What I'll remember most isn't just the alpacas.
Or the views.
Or even the incredible food.
It's the family.
Their kindness.
Their generosity.

Reynaldo was fantastic - taking our small family on a short notice booking and tailoring the experience to allow for maximum llama/alpaca hiking time + a visit to Salineras Maras for a wow factor at the end. Easy pickup and drop off from our hotel in Urubamba.

We love hiking, so this 3 hour moderate hike in the mountains with our llama and alpaca buddies was doubly awesome.  The animals are very healthy and well tempered - no spitting or kicking - due to Reynaldo hand-selecting and raising all of his own hiking herd.  The post hike lunch was also fresh and delicious. I loved this experience even more than Machu Picchu. The family that runs this is so friendly and welcoming. Our tour guide spoke great English and he had so much personality that it made our experience that much better. Please keep in mind that this is a very long trek. About 3 hours of hiking in the mountains. But afterwards they offer you a light lunch with amazing homemade guacamole and soft bread. You're able to try some of their local vegetables and of course they offer bottles of water. I spent the most money in Margo's store after the experience. This family has many alpacas and llamas and they make beautiful articles of clothing, blankets and scarves from real alpaca wool. A little bit on the pricey side but worth every penny because it goes to a well-deserving little family and every article is real alpaca wool. The views on the trek are breathtaking, pictures can't even capture how amazing it was. The whole family speaks Quechua, English and Spanish. Our guide Nelo gave us a lot of information and Ricardo and Margo welcomed us into their home after the trek. Their home is also an Airbnb which is how we found this amazing experience and their home is absolutely beautiful. There's a lot more included in this trip than just the walking. We ate lunch, saw ruins, met sheep herders, toured a guinea pig farm and got a tutorial on how to make yarn from alpaca wool and turn that into beautiful items by weaving. My only regret is that I didn't bring some candy or sweets for their small children. They have three kids and they're absolutely the sweetest little things. They just touched my heart. If I had known they had children before hand I would have brought them a special treat but I didn't have much to offer besides money, which small kids don't care about. If I ever find myself in Cusco again I will definitely be repeating this experience. Transportation is not included but is offered for a small fee which is very convenient. I fell in love with this family, this experience, the beautiful views and culture of Peru. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Phenomenal experience!! Will do again if I return to Cusco & recommend to all. Great opportunity for llama & alpaca interaction, everyone in our group held the leash on one as we hiked up a together. We got to pet them, walk them, and take lots of pictures. Hosts were very knowledgeable, communicative and easy to work with. They coordinated transportation to Chincero, helped us take pictures, organized the breaks for scenic outlooks, brought traditional clothing for pictures, and organized a wonderful lunch. This was the highlight of my sister and I’s trip to Peru. We loved being able to hike with the llamas and alpacas, and the babies were so cute! We even had the best welcome by a very adorable hiking buddy, Coco the dog! Reynaldo and his wife were amazing at leading us on this trek through the mountains, stopping to allow us to take in the insane views along the way. It was also special to be paired with a llama or alpaca to be our “buddy” during the hike. We had such an amazing time with Reynaldo and his wife, Margot on this tour! We had the opportunity to personally guide llamas and alapacas on a hike where the views were simply amazing. This experience was a highlight of our trip, on par with Machu Picchu. Compared to other tours out of Cusco, this one lets you sleep in a little bit more (pickup at 8AM) and then you're back by mid afternoon, giving you enough time to spend back in the city. I would definitely recommend this experience. It was very unique. The landscape was beautiful and interacting with the llamas was very special. Make sure you’ve acclimated to the altitude before this experience because it is a hike. A few logistical things - transportation is not included in the price, so keep that in mind. Try to acclimate to the Cusco elevation before hiking. I just bus down into Cusco from Machu Picchu the day before and was not prepared for the altitude. It made my heart rate faster and got a headache for the rest of the trip. Though I would say it was worth it.

Peru is an amazing country to visit overall, but this experience with Reynaldo was one of the top highlights of our trip! This excursion from start to finish was incredible and I cannot say enough good things about Reynaldo and this tour. First off, the llamas/alpacas are the cutest-we could not get enough of them. We got to spend the entire hike hanging out with them, taking amazing photos, and feeding them. It was such a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience. The hike itself was very pleasant and not difficult given the altitude, and the views of the Andes were breathtaking. It was truly like a dream. After the hike, we had a quaint picnic with delicious snacks & a gorgeous view and then after that, we got a really interesting lesson on alpaca and vicunya textiles and weaving. Reynaldo as a host was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, communicative, and accomodating, ensuring the needs and schedule/timing of our group were met. I would recommend this to everyone-you will love it!!
