If you appreciate, enjoy and learn when you visit, cultures, traditions, archeology and nature so you can trust on a group of locals “Alpaca Trek Adventures” caring of the details; the comfort, organization and security you need during your trip. Let permit us to show our work. “Alpaca Trek Adventures” is a Cusco company at your service.
You should definitely bring water for your trek. We walk for xx hours and the air is drier at that altitude. You will get thirsty! At each stop, you will be provided with new water to refresh your bottles or hydration packs. We will stop for a picnic lunch but if you have dietary requirements that include frequent snacking, you should bring those along.
We need an answer!
While we won’t be doing any proper mountain climbing, we will eventually reach an altitude of 3800 meters – that’s 12,500 feet!
Many travelers are concerned with how their bodies will react to the altitude. You can acclimatize more easily if after landing in Cusco you spend 1 to 2 nights in the Sacred Valley, where the altitude is significantly lower. For example, the altitude in Urubamba is 9,420 feet vs. Cusco’s 11,154.
Typically, travelers may experience some fatigue, headache, and labored breathing. These effects can be minimized by drinking plenty of fluids, including muña tea or a caffeinated beverage. Light food and only a few activities the first day is also a good idea.
If you have any medical conditions, it is recommended that you discuss the effects of altitude with your doctor before coming. Acetazolamide or Diamox are medications that may help and require a prescription. Ask your doctor if these are appropriate for you. Oxygen will be available to you in an emergency.
We require a minimum of 2 participants with a maximum of 10 people for our walks. Each walk will have 2 licensed hiking guides. During the low season the groups are more likely to be small and during the high season the groups are likely to be full. If necessary we can easily open a second group for the same date.
Private groups of less than 10 can also be accommodated. Please ask an Alpaca Trek Adventure representative about rates if you desire a private trek.
One of the main reasons for choosing a private hike is that you don’t need to worry about the dates for which we have scheduled departures. You can choose any date you want. In addition to the convenience and flexibility in booking, the private option provides a more personal travel experience for your group. We will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. Our guide will focus all his or her energy and attention on your group. You can also have a choice in the foods you would like served during the walk. It is truly a wonderful experience to undertake such an incredible journey with only your friends and loved ones. Ask an Alpaca Trek Adventure representative how you can organize your own private tour.
Sturdy shoes are a good idea.
That really depends on your needs and desires. Here are some recommendations:
For the one day llama & alpaca hike tour we will refund your deposit at 100% (minus the 5.5% fee charged by Paypal) if you cancel within 5 days.
We are glad to know that soon you will have the opportunity to travel to one of the most pictures of countries, full of culture and an incomparable history; from here you can write us and receive information about your next adventure in PERU.
We did the 1 day Inka trail which was a moderate to strenuous at times 8 miles of beauty. Thanks to Lucio the trip was informative, fun and safe. The cool Urbano and the porters somehow created a delicious lunch on the trail and coming over the sun gate entrance in the afternoon was truly a wonder of the world!
In July we joined Ronaldo and the rest of the group at Alpaca Trek Adventures for a walk through the Andes with Alpacas and Llamas. Ronaldo went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. I would strongly recommend looking him up if you’re planning a trip to Peru.
It was a wonderful experience that I can recommend to everyone. It was excellently organized by Reynaldo and Margot. We had a wonderful guide, Sandro, and a driver. I highly recommend this unique and beautiful experience.
I spent this delightful day with Reyando and his wife Margot on a walk through a beautiful eucalyptus forest, along with their llamas and alpacas. There was a magical quality about walking in the quiet with these delightful animals.
